US enterprise automaker: Procurement Automation for a US Automaker case study
Serverless AWS automations that prepare and validate data before it reaches SAP and Coupa, removing manual pre-tasks for a US enterprise automaker. The work was part of a company-wide programme targeting USD 50M a year in savings.
The Problem
Data arriving at the automaker's ERP and procurement systems, SAP and Coupa, needed manual preparation before it could be ingested. Those pre-tasks were the bottleneck and the main source of errors, so the work targeted the steps before ingestion rather than the ERP itself.
The Solution
Apex36 built serverless automations and data pipelines on AWS that sit in front of SAP and Coupa. They take over the preparation and validation work that was previously done by hand, so data reaches the ERP and procurement systems without the manual pre-tasks. The engagement ran for two months, July to August 2026.
Features
Pre-ingestion data preparation
The manual preparation steps before SAP and Coupa, now run by software.
Validation before ingestion
Checks that run before data reaches the ERP, instead of fixes after it.
SAP and Coupa integration
Automations built around the client's ERP and procurement systems.
Serverless on AWS
Event-driven automations with no servers for the client to manage.
Results / Impact
from the data path to SAP and Coupa.
July to August 2026.
the client's company-wide programme target in savings, not a measured result of this work.
FAQ
SAP for ERP and Coupa for procurement and spend management. The automations run on serverless AWS in front of both, preparing and validating data before ingestion.
No. USD 50M a year is the target of the client's company-wide automation programme. This work was one part of that programme; we do not claim a savings figure for it.
Apex36, over two months from July to August 2026.
